As a skilled communication professional, you'll play a key role in promoting access and inclusion for students with visual impairments or those requiring interpretive assistance. Qualifications & Experience:
Proven experience as an Interpreter, preferably in an educational setting Professional background working as a Braillist, with proficiency in Braille transcription and production Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly Familiarity with assistive technology and tools for students with visual impairments is highly desired Ability to manage confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately Commitment to promoting inclusivity and supporting different learning needs Flexibility to adapt to varying classroom and student requirements Relevant certifications or training in interpreting and/or Braille are a plus
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver interpreting services to facilitate effective communication for students and staff Transcribe instructional materials, student assignments, and exams into Braille Collaborate with educators to ensure accessible content and support student learning Assist with the use and troubleshooting of assistive technology devices for students Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of services provided Participate in meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs) Why Consider This Role?
