Independent Contractor | Assignment-Based Job Description National Language Services (NLS) is rapidly expanding its professional in-person interpreter network throughout Southern California , with a major recruiting focus on Riverside County, the Inland Empire, Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County, San Diego County, and surrounding communities . We are seeking experienced, dependable, and professional interpreters for upcoming government and public-sector language-service assignments . Assignments may include administrative proceedings, hearings, meetings, legal matters, investigations, conferences, mediations, depositions, healthcare-related settings, public services, and other professional environments.

Qualifications Applicants should have:

At least 1 year of professional interpreting experience Strong professionalism, reliability, confidentiality, and communication skills Ability to accept in-person assignments within their selected service area Ability to provide accurate consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation, as applicable Reliable transportation for in-person assignments Experience in government, court/legal, administrative hearings, workers' compensation, healthcare, depositions, mediations, investigations, or other professional interpreting environments is highly desirable. High-Priority Languages Immediate recruiting priorities include: Spanish, American Sign Language (ASL), Arabic, Eastern Armenian, Bengali, Burmese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Dari, Farsi/Persian, French, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Hmong, Hungarian, Indonesian, Japanese, Khmer/Cambodian, Korean, Lithuanian, Malayalam, Marshallese, Mongolian, Nepali, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Swahili, Tagalog/Filipino, Tamil, Thai, Tigrinya, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, and Vietnamese. We also welcome experienced interpreters for all additional languages, Indigenous languages, and less-common languages or dialects , particularly linguists located throughout Riverside County and Southern California. Assignment Structure This is independent contractor, assignment-based work . Assignment availability varies based on language, geographic location, client demand, qualifications, credentials, and interpreter availability. Because this opportunity is specifically focused on in-person interpreting , applicants should clearly identify the cities and counties they can realistically serve and their preferred travel radius.
