Provides verbal and/or non-verbal, objective, specialized, and culturally appropriate interpreter/translation services for patients, families, providers and staff. Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity of patient's cultural background in assisting staff and providers in obtaining and conveying information, such as medical history, financial information, and basic to complex medical and technical information including diagnosis, recommended treatments, routine care, etc. Demonstrates great tact and diplomacy to effectively meet the communication needs of the patient, patient's family, provider, staff, and others, as assigned to support delivery of high quality care in a safe and efficient manner.Job Description :

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions in certified secondary language. Oral command of English and a second language of service (Cantonese, Spanish, etc.). Must be sensitive and knowledgeable of the distinction between neutral interpreting and patient advocacy. Demonstrates ability in listening and often requested by others to summarize and interpret what transpired at meetings and during conversations. Perseveres until all key points are explained. Always gives speakers the feeling of comfort and interest, focusing intently on the subject. Formulates responses and draws conclusions only after speakers are finished. #LI-TM1Job Shift:
