EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination equivalent to:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or Spanish, the designated foreign language for this position, OR Associate's degree and completion of Translating/Interpreting certificate, OR Proof of enrollment in a degree program with at least 48 college semester units and Translating/Interpreting certificate.
Experience:
One year of experience translating and interpreting materials and communications between English and Spanish.

If you were educated outside of the US, you must have your foreign transcripts evaluated by an approved agency prior to being invited to the written exam. The evaluated summary must state you have completed high school, and if applicable, any college degrees held.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid California Class C driver's license. Incumbents must be proficient in English and Spanish and pass an oral and written proficiency exam in Spanish.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES
Assessments and interviews may take place virtually via Zoom Meetings and/or on site. Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated. The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam. Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts. Candidates will be invited over email to participate in examination and selection steps, using the email supplied within their applications. Therefore, it is recommended that candidates check their email at least daily.
NOTE:
Examination procedures are subject to change as deemed necessary.
