The Aspen School District is seeking a dedicated ASL Interpreter to join the Student Services Department for School Year 2026-27

Compensation:
$35.50 to $44.13/hour depending on experience

Position Summary
The ASL Interpreter works directly with children in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, assists student(s) with interpreting and communicating with basic American Sign Language, and assists the teachers in implementing the instructional program. Position Responsibilities
ASL Interpreter Responsibilities:
Assist student(s) with interpreting and communication with basic American Sign Language
Facilitate ASL communication in behalf of student(s)
Collaborate and consult with the site principals, teachers, and related service personnel to plan, organize, and implement specific assignments and activities in accordance with IEP goals and providing and/or modifying instruction/curriculum
Follow daily schedules and school procedures, as well as implement student programming, as directed by cooperating teachers and administrators under the direction of the teacher.
Monitor student behavior, intervening when appropriate and supporting the student while working individually or in small groups
Assist the teacher with student behavior management strategies, including appropriate response and measures
Maintain accurate documentation of activities, student progress, and behavior modification plans
Help design and implement communication tools that allow for good information exchange
Participate in professional development/continuing education programs as required/recommended by the school administrator and/or Director of Student Services
May assist student(s) with personal care needs and assist with minor first aid as appropriate.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Professional oral and written communication norms and standards
Basic American Sign Language
Basic and modern office procedures and methods
Principles and procedures of record-keeping and reporting
Word processing, databases, and computer software
Microsoft Office and/or the Google Suite of office software
Ability to:
Demonstrate responsibility and consistency of attendance required for work with students
Work with efficiency with attention to detail
Demonstrate flexibility for the environment that may require a change of schedule and/or student activities
Maintain confidentiality of information
Work cooperatively with administrators and staff
Observe all district policies and procedures
Observe all general safety rules, carefully observing correct lifting procedures
Communicate clearly and concisely in English both orally and in writing aking;
Maintain high ethical standards, legal responsibility, and confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications
ASL - English Interpreting Certificate
High School Diploma or equivalent
Operation and use of modern office equipment including a computer, printer/copier and various software packages Valid Colorado driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire. Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications Three years or more of relevant experience in sign language interpreting and special education in a classroom environment

Essential Physical Requirements
Physical:
Reaching, walking, standing, sitting, typing, talking, crouching, kneeling, occasional climbing and crawling, seeing, and hearing. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
