This is a 1099 position with Language Link Corp. in Branford, CT, offering flexibility across three modalities: in-person, over the phone, and video interpretation. As a Freelance Interpreter, you will convey spoken messages accurately from one language to another, ensuring cultural sensitivity and effective communication. You will support clients across various industries, including healthcare, legal, and business, while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. We also provide support and guidance for candidates preparing to take the court interpreter certification exam, helping you achieve this important professional milestone. Qualifications Fluency in at least two languages, including English and a second language of service. Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both languages. Understanding of cultural differences and the ability to bridge cultural gaps through language interpretation. Strong memory and note-taking skills to ensure accurate and complete interpretation. Professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to confidentiality when handling sensitive information. Flexibility to interpret in various legal settings and scenarios. Prior interpretation experience is preferred but not required. A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Responsibilities Provide accurate interpretation services in medical settings, ensuring effective communication between patients and healthcare providers. Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality and accuracy in interpretation. Collaborate with social workers, medical professionals, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth communication processes. Review and document medical records and information in compliance with relevant standards and guidelines.
