Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract An enriching opportunity is available for an experienced ASL Language Facilitator or Sign Language Interpreter to support students in a diverse urban school district. This full-time, contract position runs from August 27, 2026, through June 11, 2027, offering 32.5 hours per week in a 1:1 role. The focus is on tutoring, reinforcing comprehension of academic material, facilitating ASL communication, and expanding students' ASL vocabulary.

Position Location:

Stamford, CT Key Responsibilities:

Provide dedicated 1:1 ASL interpretation and language facilitation for students Tutor students to support understanding of classroom content Actively develop and enhance students' ASL vocabulary and communication skills Collaborate with teaching staff and the Director of the Deaf to tailor support to individual student needs Assist students across various grade levels, with possible focus on elementary students and other age groups based on fit

Qualifications and Experience:

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is essential Experience working within a school environment is highly preferred RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) and/or EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) certification or scores are preferred but not mandatory Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse student population
