Job Description

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) learners across elementary, middle, and high school levels. This on-site contract position offers the opportunity to work at a single school location near Lehigh Acres, FL, providing interpretive services for students in both 1:1 and group settings. Your role will contribute directly to student access, inclusion, and academic success.
Qualifications & Skills:
Hold a 3.0 or higher EIPA score (required) Experience interpreting for DHH students in educational environments Comfortable working across different age groups (elementary, middle, and high school) Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families Willingness and eligibility to complete required fingerprinting. If youve previously been fingerprinted for a Florida school district, your status may transfer via the AHCA Clearinghouse. Strong commitment to professional standards and confidentiality
Role Highlights:
Provide direct interpretive services for DHH students as assigned Support academic participation and social interaction in classrooms and school activities Work closely with educators, related service providers, and families to support student goals Adapt interpreting style and approach based on student age, setting, and individual communication needs Ensure compliance with all ethical codes and legal requirements for educational interpreters The assignment is full-time (up to 37.5 hours per week) and is available through the end of the school year.
