Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Spanish Medical Interpreter, where your linguistic skills and cultural expertise will bridge communication gaps between healthcare providers and Spanish-speaking patients. This vital role ensures accurate, compassionate, and confidential interpretation across medical settings, empowering patients to receive the care they need while supporting clinical teams with precise translation of medical terminology. As a key member of our interpreter services, you will facilitate clear communication in diverse healthcare environments, including hospitals, clinics, social services, and telehealth platforms. Your dedication to professionalism and cultural competency will directly impact patient outcomes and promote equitable healthcare access. Duties Provide real-time interpretation for medical consultations, procedures, and patient interactions via in-person, over-the-phone, or video remote interpretation platforms. Accurately translate complex medical terminology and documentation while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies and adhering to HIPAA compliance standards. Facilitate cross-cultural communication between healthcare providers and Spanish-speaking patients by applying clinical cultural competency standards and ethical interpretation practices. Support social work teams, child protective services, and hospital staff by translating medical records, social histories, and other sensitive documentation with precision. Ensure compliance with clinical ethical guidelines during interpretation sessions, safeguarding patient privacy and fostering trust through professional ethics. Review medical documentation for accuracy and completeness; assist in translating medical records to support comprehensive patient care. Maintain detailed logs of interpretation sessions, document interactions according to hospital protocols, and review clinical records for consistency. Experience Proven experience in medical interpretation within healthcare settings such as hospitals or clinics. Multilingual proficiency in English and Spanish; additional skills in American Sign Language or other languages are a plus. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, translating complex concepts into clear language for diverse audiences. Familiarity with video remote interpretation (VRI) technology and over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) platforms. Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and ethical standards for medical interpreters. Excellent communication skills with the ability to navigate cross-cultural interactions confidently. Experience working with social services or child protective services is advantageous; familiarity with hospital records management is preferred.
