What You'll Bring:
Must hold a current Sign Language Interpreter license from the Georgia Department of Education (GA DOE SLI License), as the district will not accept HR waivers Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) Prior experience supporting students in a K-12 educational setting is preferred Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students Ability to work courteously and professionally with staff, students, and families Strong sense of responsibility and reliability for consistent onsite attendance
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for a designated student in all classroom and school-related activities Facilitate communication between the student and peers, teachers, and staff members Support the student's participation in instructional and extracurricular activities Adapt interpreting techniques to match student's communication needs Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times Collaborate with educational teams to optimize the student's learning environment This contract position will span the full academic year, beginning August 3rd, 2026 and concluding May 27th, 2027, aligned with a traditional school calendar.
