Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your expertise in sign language interpreting to a rewarding educational setting supporting students for the upcoming academic year. This role is an on-site, full-time contract position, offering the valuable opportunity to make a significant impact by facilitating communication and comprehension for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. As a sign language interpreter, you'll provide real-time interpretation of instructional and auditory information in classroom environments while also supporting students in their social interactions to enable full participation in school life. In this dynamic role, you will work closely with school staff and students, sometimes revisiting or clarifying information to ensure understanding, always striving to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Key Qualifications:
Active Georgia licensure/credentials required EIPA score of at least 3.5 Valid Georgia Educator's Certification Previous experience in a school setting strongly preferred Availability for a full-time, Monday-Friday schedule (37.5 hours weekly) Strong interpersonal skills and a deep commitment to supporting student access and integration
Primary Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction and auditory content for assigned students Facilitate communication between students and teachers, peers, and staff Assist in reinforcing or clarifying educational content as needed Foster student participation in academic and social settings Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with school policies
