Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact every day by facilitating communication and understanding in an educational setting as a Sign Language Interpreter. Working in a contract role near the Jonesboro, GA area, you'll collaborate with dedicated educators and students, ensuring that deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals receive exceptional support in the classroom.
What We're Seeking:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Prior experience working as a sign language interpreter—especially within school environments Understanding of educational settings and student needs Familiarity with the role of supporting both teachers and students during lessons and activities Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate cultural sensitivity Flexibility, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving
What You'll Be Doing:
Provide real-time interpretation between students, teachers, and staff in classroom and school-related activities Accurately interpret lesson content, discussions, and materials to ensure students receive full access to the curriculum Work closely with classroom educators, school teams, and related service professionals to facilitate inclusive learning environments Participate in meetings, conferences, and parent communications as needed, interpreting both spoken English and American Sign Language Support teacher and administrative staff with the adaptation of resources, as needed, for accessibility Maintain detailed records of services provided in accordance with school guidelines Experience the personal and professional rewards that come from supporting students on their educational journey.
