Job Description

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting student success as an American Sign Language Interpreter in a school-based setting near Aurora, IL. This onsite, contract assignment is ideally suited for professionals eager to make a meaningful impact in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) student education. The role emphasizes individualized attention through a dedicated 1:1 caseload, ensuring your skills benefit a students learning experience directly.
Key Qualifications:
Current state licensure for ASL Interpreting in Illinois is required State/discipline certifications such as a Professional Educator License (PEL) or Paraprofessional Certification, as determined by local statutory guidelines Experience in educational settings preferred, especially in working with DHH students on a 1:1 basis Strong proficiency in American Sign Language and commitment to facilitating effective communication Ability to collaborate seamlessly with educators and support staff
Your Responsibilities:
Provide direct interpretation services to a DHH student in various classroom and school-related activities from 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM Support inclusion by clarifying instruction and classroom interaction Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical practices in all student interactions Offer feedback and collaborate with educational team members regarding student progress and needs Adapt communication techniques as required for optimal student engagement and understanding Benefits to
