9649456-60505 Job Description Embark on a fulfilling contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter and make a direct impact within an educational setting near Aurora, IL. Starting ASAP and continuing through the end of the school year, this full-time, Monday through Friday position is vital for supporting student success. Working daily from 7:45 am to 2:45 pm (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch), you'll play a key role helping a student who demonstrates behavioral challenges, facilitating their learning and access to curriculum through professional sign language interpretation. What we're looking for: Proven skills in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation in academic settings Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally with school-aged children Ability to provide accurate and clear communication between students, staff, and peers Understanding and sensitivity to behavioral needs and effective strategies for support Patience, adaptability, and a collaborative approach Strong commitment to student confidentiality and professional boundaries Relevant certification, licensure, or credentialing as required by state guidelines Reliable attendance and punctuality Key responsibilities: Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities using sign language Bridge communication between students, educators, and peers Partner closely with teachers and staff to implement behavioral support strategies Assist with transitions, classroom participation, and special activities Contribute to a supportive, inclusive environment that encourages student engagement Serve as a resource and advocate for student needs Adapt interpreting approaches based on daily requirements and student progress Collaborate actively as part of the student's educational team This is your chance to champion accessibility and inclusion while gaining valuable experience within a supportive school environment.
