Key Qualifications:

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate SLI endorsement Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and a solid understanding of Deaf culture Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting is highly valued Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff Commitment to maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide direct, 1-on-1 sign language interpretation for students during classroom instruction and school activities Collaborate with educators and support staff to adapt communication methods and assist with instructional delivery Foster an inclusive and accessible environment, advocating for each students needs Accurately interpret spoken English to ASL (and vice versa) to support academic and social engagement Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training as requested
