Desired Qualifications:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational environment preferred Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver interpretation services between students, teachers, and staff in all classroom and school settings Provide accurate and effective communication support, ensuring full access to the educational curriculum and activities Adapt interpreting approach according to student needs and school context Assist with preparation and/or review of materials when needed, ensuring clarity and accessibility Uphold all relevant codes of ethics and school policies for interpreters
