Your skills as a Sign Language Interpreter will play a crucial role in bridging communication between students, staff, and families, ensuring every student receives full access to educational content. This contract opportunity is available near Mount Prospect, IL, and will run from August 19, 2026, through early June 2027 (exact end date varies by school assignment). One to two interpreters are needed to assist in this supportive, student-centered setting.
Qualifications:
Certified Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) with experience in K-12 educational settings. Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiar with Deaf culture. Ability to interpret in real-time for classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities. Strong interpersonal communication skills and professionalism. Holds current and applicable interpreting credentials as required by state guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Facilitate communication among students, teachers, parents, and staff during classes, school meetings, and extracurricular activities. Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in all interpreted communications. Collaborate with educational staff to promote accessible learning environments. Provide feedback and support on students' communication needs when appropriate.
