Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Put your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) to work in a rewarding educational setting! A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide 1:1 support for a student in a vibrant school environment. You will play an essential role in fostering access, communication, and engagement for a student who relies on sign language, helping them thrive academically and socially.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings strongly preferred State or national interpreter certification (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent) Ability to work collaboratively with educators, staff, and families Professionalism, discretion, and a strong commitment to student confidentiality and empowerment
Daily Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one interpreting services to a student during classroom instruction and throughout the school day Facilitate communication between student, teachers, staff, and peers Adapt interpreting style to fit classroom activities, discussions, and individual student needs Support the student in accessing all aspects of their curriculum and social interactions Maintain accurate records as needed and participate in team meetings Foster a supportive, inclusive environment for the student
