Qualifications:
National certification from RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) or EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment); state certification as applicable. Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). Collaborative mindset, able to work well with students, staff, and families. Adaptability and reliability with excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Facilitate clear and accurate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and instructional staff. Interpret classroom instruction, school activities, meetings, and parent conferences. Support students language development and help create an inclusive educational environment. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical interpreting standards. Collaborate with educators and other support personnel to meet students needs.
