This contract position offers you the chance to create meaningful connections and support students in both established and expanding programs dedicated to hearing-impaired learners, as well as students with limited or no verbal communication. Working in-person—or a hybrid model with at least four days on site—you will serve as a key resource for both students and staff. Your expertise will facilitate communication, help evaluations, and ensure equal access to education across various settings, including SAILS and STEPs programs.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings Familiarity with working alongside students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have limited/no verbal communication SLI certification or equivalent, enabling you to support formal evaluations Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary educational team Reliable attendance for onsite or hybrid assignment (minimum four days per week)
Key Responsibilities:
Provide interpreting services between students, staff, and families using ASL in classrooms and meetings Support students' engagement, understanding, and participation within SAILS and STEPs programs Facilitate effective communication to enrich learning and social opportunities for all students Assist teachers and specialists by clarifying topics and instructions to students in need Contribute to a positive, inclusive environment that values diverse learning and communication needs Experience a supportive setting, opportunities to engage in dynamic educational programs, and the reward of making a difference each day.
