Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your expertise supporting student success as an ASL Signing Paraprofessional in a vibrant school community near Shawnee, KS. This full-time contract opportunity runs from ASAP through the end of the school year, with the option to extend into summer. You'll make a meaningful impact each day by providing essential communication access and fostering an inclusive educational environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Qualifications:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or similar support role in educational settings Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students Commitment to fostering a positive and accessible classroom experience Responsible, punctual, and compassionate
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction and conversations between staff, teachers, and students Facilitate effective communication for students who use ASL Support instructional activities and reinforce lesson material as directed by educators Assist with classroom management while maintaining confidentiality Adapt to varied classroom environments and students' needs Foster respectful, inclusive relationships with all learners Enjoy the advantages of a W-2 contract that includes a competitive compensation package, 401k, and insurance options.
