As a valued 1:1 interpreter, you will provide direct, on-site American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, ensuring full access to classroom content and school activities for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Qualifications and Experience:

Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1 or higher Prior experience in a 1:1 educational or school-based setting preferred, but not required Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the role of interpreters in educational settings Ability to collaborate with educators, staff, and parents Open to qualified travel candidates willing to commute or relocate for the assignment

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver accurate, real-time interpretation between ASL and spoken English for a designated student during classroom instruction, activities, and extracurricular events Partner closely with teachers and related service staff to support student participation and integration Adapt interpreting style to fit the students preferred communication mode and academic level Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics Provide feedback to educational teams regarding student communication needs, as appropriate
