Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting high school students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming school year. This full-time position is located near Harvey, LA, with a focus on providing vital communication access to students in an engaging educational environment. Collaborate with educators and staff while utilizing your expertise to make a difference in students' academic experiences.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter in school settings Experience with virtual interpreting platforms (VOCO experience required) EIPA score of 4.0 (both performance and written), and active listing on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Dept. of Health) RID and NIC certifications are also accepted, provided the written component is met Previous experience working with high school-aged students is highly preferred Ability to manage varying caseloads and adapt to different school sites as assigned
Responsibilities:
Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation for high school students according to specified IEPs and educational plans Work 35 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, following the school calendar from ASAP through late May 2027 Collaborate closely with students, teachers, and support staff to foster an inclusive academic atmosphere Travel as needed to various school locations within the district (number of schools and student caseload to be determined) Maintain up-to-date records in compliance with all school and regulatory requirements A fulfilling schedule and meaningful engagement with students await!
