In this contract position, you will make a direct impact by ensuring that resource-level hearing-impaired students have the tools, instruction, and support they need to thrive in the classroom. As an integral member of the Student Support Unit, you'll collaborate with teachers and staff to deliver IEP-directed educational services and create an inclusive learning environment.

Key Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, along with Louisiana teacher's certification in Hearing Impaired. At least 3 years of experience working with hearing-impaired students in a mainstream educational setting. Basic proficiency in sign language. Strong communication skills; capable of inspiring and engaging in a variety of settings. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability, using both qualitative and quantitative data. Collaborative, professional, and organized with a track record of balancing priorities effectively. Comfortable troubleshooting a range of auditory equipment, from hearing aids to assistive listening devices. Proficient in computer use for maintaining data, IEPs, progress notes, and school records. Must complete fingerprinting and drug screening as part of credentialing.

Role Responsibilities:

Provide tailored instruction and support to hearing-impaired students as outlined in IEPs. Consult with classroom teachers and school staff to maximize student learning and integration. Identify and request appropriate materials and auditory equipment for students' needs. Support classroom preparation by regularly communicating with teaching staff. Lead in-service training for school personnel to foster positive experiences for hearing-impaired students. Maintain timely progress notes, reports, and records for students and parents. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Speech, Hearing, and Autism. This is a full-time opportunity (37.5 hours/week, Monday through Friday) aligned with the school calendar, beginning as soon as possible through late May 2027.
