Key Qualifications:

Hold a current ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher (required) Proficient in American Sign Language interpretation in educational settings Experience in a 1:1 interpreter role with students is strongly preferred Ability to adapt communication style to meet individual student needs Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining confidentiality Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers and school staff

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide direct 1:1 sign language interpreting services for a student within the classroom and throughout the school day Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and educational team Accurately interpret spoken language into American Sign Language and vice versa Support the students learning objectives while ensuring full participation in classroom activities Maintain detailed records of interpreting activities, progress, and communication needs Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and contribute insights regarding communication access
