Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Exciting new opportunity for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to work onsite with a vibrant kindergarten student for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract-based assignment allows you to make a real difference in a young child's educational journey near the Vacherie, LA area. This role is perfect for compassionate interpreters who enjoy fostering communication and language development, especially in an early learning environment. This is a 1:1 position supporting a bright and eager kindergarten girl who is learning sign language at a remarkable pace. She'll benefit from foundational guidance as she becomes more confident with communication. You'll also collaborate with a kindergarten teacher who is already fluent in sign, ensuring a supportive and cooperative classroom dynamic.
Qualifications & Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting, particularly with young children, is strongly encouraged Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to provide appropriate language models and support for foundational sign language learning Relevant certification or licensure to serve as a school interpreter (as required by state regulations)
Responsibilities:
