Job Description

This contract opportunity near Lusby, MD, is ideal for professionals passionate about bridging communication and fostering inclusion in a school environment. Youll be collaborating closely with students, teachers, and staff to ensure seamless access to instruction and support for DHH (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) students.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL); RID certification or state credentials preferred Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school or educational setting Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the unique needs of DHH students Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Flexibility, reliability, and ability to adapt to varied classroom settings Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards
Responsibilities:
Provide clear and accurate interpretation of classroom instruction, discussions, and activities Facilitate effective communication between DHH students, teachers, peers, and staff Support students participation in academic and extracurricular activities Collaborate with educators and other specialists to ensure appropriate accommodations are in place Maintain detailed records and documentation as required Participate in team meetings and training sessions relevant to the role This assignment offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in students learning experiences while growing your own professional skills in a collaborative and welcoming environment.
