In this vital role, you'll facilitate clear and accurate interpretation between Arabic-speaking clients and English-speaking professionals, ensuring seamless interactions that uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and cultural competency. Your work will directly impact patient care, social services delivery, and community engagement by providing precise medical and social interpretation services in a variety of environments. Responsibilities Provide real-time interpretation for medical appointments, hospital visits, social work consultations, and legal proceedings using both in-person and remote video or over-the-phone platforms. Translate medical terminology accurately to ensure understanding between healthcare providers and Arabic-speaking patients, adhering to clinical ethical guidelines and confidentiality policies. Support cross-cultural communication by applying cultural competency standards to facilitate respectful and effective interactions. Review medical records, documentation, and social service files to assist with translation needs while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA compliance and clinical confidentiality policies. Assist in translating medical documents, consent forms, patient instructions, and social service reports with precision and clarity. Demonstrate professionalism by upholding ethical standards such as patient privacy (HIPAA), child protective services protocols, and hospital-specific procedures. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and legal teams to ensure accurate interpretation aligned with clinical cultural competency standards. Maintain detailed documentation of interpretation sessions, translating notes when necessary to support continuity of care or legal processes. Qualifications Fluent in both Arabic and English with exceptional interpretation skills across multiple settings including medical, legal, and social services environments. Proven experience in medical interpretation or healthcare translation; familiarity with medical terminology is highly preferred. Strong understanding of clinical ethical guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and confidentiality policies related to medical records and patient information. Skilled in video remote interpretation (VRI), over-the-phone interpretation (OPI), and in-person interpreting techniques. Knowledge of American Sign Language is a plus but not required; emphasis on multilingual capabilities is essential. Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism under pressure while delivering accurate translations in fast-paced environments. Excellent communication skills coupled with cross-cultural competence to foster respectful interactions with diverse populations. Experience working within hospital or clinical settings is highly desirable; familiarity with child protective services protocols is a bonus.
