Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by working with a dedicated high school student who is deaf in a supportive educational environment near Chaska, MN. This full-time, contract position covers the entire school year, providing consistent, in-person sign language interpretation for one student who recently transferred and is seeking greater continuity and connection in the classroom. Your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter will give this student the accessible, individualized support they need to succeed academically and socially. The school is prioritizing an in-person interpreter to build strong, direct communication and community integration—matching the student's preferences and maximizing engagement.
Qualifications:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings, preferably at the high school level Ability to foster trusting, effective relationships with students who are deaf or hard of hearing Comfortable working full-time throughout the upcoming school year Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and collaboration with school faculty and staffResponsibilities:
Provide real-time, in-person sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, activities, and events. Adapt communication styles to align with the student's needs and preferences. Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure full access to the curriculum and extracurriculars. Help build a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Support the student's social integration and communication with peers.
