Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type All Job Types Step into a rewarding opportunity to support students as an experienced Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant educational setting. Help foster clear communication and inclusion by bridging the gap between Deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff. Your expertise will empower students to access instruction, participate in school activities, and grow academically and socially.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school environment Familiarity with classroom settings and educational terminology Ability to interpret with accuracy, impartiality, and confidentiality Possession of relevant interpreting credentials or certifications is highly valued Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with educators, staff, and families Commitment to supporting students' educational achievements and well-being
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide real-time interpretation between spoken English and Sign Language for students in classrooms, assemblies, and school events Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and other staff to ensure accessible and inclusive learning environments Support students' individual needs, adjusting interpreting style as appropriate Foster effective communication, helping students actively participate in lessons and group activities Uphold professional standards and ethical guidelines for educational interpreters Maintain documentation as required for student support services Take your interpreting skills to the next level in a meaningful educational role where you can make a difference every day.
