Minneapolis, MN Job Details Contract $35 an hour 15 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Interpretation HIPAA English Performing background checks Swahili Full Job Description Job Summary We are looking for professional, fluent Swahili interpreters to facilitate accurate, impartial communication between non-English speaking individuals and service providers (medical professionals, legal entities, and social service organizations). Duties Provide accurate, sight, and consecutive interpretation between English and Swahili without altering, omitting, or adding to the original message. Arrive at assignment locations 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Maintain complete confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and ethical standards for medical/legal interpretation. Complete and submit signed client timesheets immediately following each completed assignment. Conduct oneself with high professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and punctuality. Qualifications & Requirements Native or near-native fluency in English and Swahili. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical, legal, or community interpretation (preferred). Formal interpreter training certificate (e.g., 40-hour Bridging the Gap, CCHI, NBCMI, or equivalent) is a strong plus. Strong understanding of medical and administrative terminology. Must pass a background check and supply relevant credential documentation. Reliable transportation for on-site appointments. Schedule & Availability Flexible schedule (assignments dispatched as needed; morning and afternoon shifts available). Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical, legal, or community interpretation (preferred).
