Qualifications & Experience:
Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or relevant credentials Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience interpreting within educational settings preferred Ability to accurately facilitate communication for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit Knowledge of IEP processes and working with educational teams preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction and school activities between staff, students, and peers Provide communication support across a variety of settings, such as assemblies, small group work, and one-on-one sessions Adapt interpreting techniques to accommodate students' individual needs and learning styles Serve as a reliable resource for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, ensuring equal access to education Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards Collaborate respectfully with teachers, specialists, and school staff to best support student outcomes This contract position provides an opportunity to work in a supportive school community, offering valuable experience and professional growth for sign language interpreters.
