Bachelor's degree Ability to pass, or evidence of passing, reading, writing, listening, and speaking tests in English and Spanish Understanding of K-12 educational system Access to transportation for traveling between buildings
Desired Qualifications:
Experience as an advocate Experience as an interpreter Understanding of immigrant/refugee needs Desire to participate in change efforts to create more culturally sensitive schools and community services Ability to make presentations in front of staff and parents Ability to work well with Spanish families Satisfactory past attendance record
Responsibilities:
Interpretation and Translation:
Provide accurate interpretation services during meetings, conferences, phone calls, and school events to support clear, culturally responsive communication between Spanish-speaking families and school staff. Translate district and school documents, newsletters, and other communications to ensure families have access to important information.
Family Engagement and Advocacy:
Communicate District 622 policies and procedures clearly to Spanish-speaking families to support their understanding and participation in their child's education. Advocate on behalf of Spanish-speaking students and families to ensure equitable access to school programs and services.
Facilitation of Cross-Cultural Understanding:
Foster positive relationships among parents, students, and staff that recognize and celebrate cultural differences. Facilitate communication and activities that build bridges between home and school while supporting student success. Cultural Education for
Staff:
Provide guidance and presentations to school staff to increase their understanding of cultures and the experiences of Spanish-speaking families, fostering a welcoming and inclusive school environment.

Work collaboratively with schools to ensure procedures and practices are inclusive and culturally responsive to the needs of Spanish-speaking families and students. Support district initiatives and family engagement activities aligned with District 622's commitment to equity and inclusion.
