ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

Contractor agrees to provide language interpretation services based on needs of the company at mutually agreed upon appointments to support communication with clients and their families, employees working with clients, and administrative team members including: In-person interpretation at the office or clients' homes to interpret program information, trainings, timecard procedures, etc. Telephonic and/or video interpretation Non-clinical communication support between patients and care providers: contractor shall not provide medical advice, clinical services or personal care to clients. Attend occasional company-sponsored community events to provide interpreter support. Interpreting English and Vietnamese Facilitates communication between clients and employees and agency administrative staff through interpreting, translating, and re-communicating both verbal and written messages from one language to another, including clear and exact translations of written materials. Interprets on behalf of agency and its constituents includes imparting thought, purpose, spirit, emotions and tone of speakers from source language into target language, without additions or omissions of essential content. Provide interpreter and translation assistance to employees who speak who Vietnamese and clients who have a broad range of abilities and are seeking services that have multiple requirements including but not limited to service eligibility assessments, insurance renewals, application process, training, etc. Communicate and interpret for administrative team members. Attend mutually agreed upon in-person scheduled appointments, supervision visits, trainings, and company-sponsored community events that require Vietnamese language interpretation.

HIPAA compliance:

Understand and comply with HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines and maintain client and employee confidence by keeping confidential all medical and private personal information learned as part of interpreter role.

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Conversational-level multi-lingual communication skills, fluent in Vietnamese and a working proficiency in English, both verbal and written. Experience in interpretation, education, and work experience in human services all highly preferred. Ability to comprehend and follow through oral and written instructions, willing to request assistance as needed, and communicate verbally to support conversations, trainings and presentations. Find enjoyment in engaging with others and easily demonstrates culturally sensitive and appreciation of cultures different from one's own. Willing to use cell phone to communicate location and appointment information with employees and clients. Must pass a fingerprinting background study through the MN Department of Human Services.
