Key Qualifications:

Proven proficiency in American Sign Language. Previous experience interpreting in a school setting is highly desirable. Ability to adapt to different learning environments and student needs. Certification or relevant credentials in sign language interpreting or teaching ASL. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

Interpret spoken language into ASL, and vice versa, for students, educators, and staff in various classroom and school settings. Collaborate closely with teachers and educational teams to support student learning and participation. Facilitate communication during classroom instruction, assemblies, extracurricular activities, meetings, and events. Adapt interpreting methods and teaching strategies to meet the individualized needs of students. Serve as a linguistic and cultural bridge, helping to create inclusive educational experiences. Assist with the development of ASL instructional materials, as needed.
