Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students and educators as a Sign Language Interpreter for the remainder of the school year. This contract position offers full-time hours, allowing you to make a lasting difference in a vibrant school community near Castle Hayne, NC. Utilizing your expertise in American Sign Language, you will be vital in ensuring deaf and hard-of-hearing students have equal access to classroom instruction. Working closely with teachers, staff, and families, you will foster communication and inclusion in both academic and extracurricular settings.
Qualifications & Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required; SLI certification highly preferred Experience interpreting in K-12 educational environments Strong collaboration skills and adaptability within a team setting Understanding of deaf culture and best practices in educational interpreting Reliability and commitment to the entire school year assignment
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice versa) during classroom lessons, school meetings, and activities Partner with teachers to facilitate instructional content for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing Support students' understanding of academic material, social interactions, and school procedures Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards at all times Adapt interpreting methods to meet the unique needs of individual learners and settings Perks of the
