Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Sign Language Interpreter - Contract Position in North Carolina School Setting A full-time contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide dedicated services in a school environment supporting an elementary student. This position is based in a middle school located in New London, NC, and runs from August 2026 through May 2027, with weekly hours totaling 37.5.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide clear and effective sign language interpretation for an elementary student within the school environment Collaborate closely with educators and support staff to facilitate communication access and inclusion Ensure compliance with all relevant educational and communication standards, including proper documentation in ECATS Maintain active licensure and meet assessment requirements for sign language interpretation in the educational setting

Qualifications and Experience:

Current, active North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Sign Language Interpreter license is mandatory Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher Experience with ECATS (Educational Community and Transition Services) documentation system Previous school-based sign language interpreting experience preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on supporting student learning and inclusion
