Qualifications and Experience:
Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience interpreting in educational or school settings is highly desirable Ability to interpret in a variety of classroom and school environments, adapting to the communication needs of individual students Knowledge of deaf culture and sensitivity to the diverse needs of students with hearing impairments Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor Minimum requirement: Relevant certification or completion of an accredited interpreter training program
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality sign language interpretation for students during classroom instruction, activities, and events Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical interpreting standards at all times Support student participation by ensuring access to classroom discussions, assignments, and extracurricular activities Partner with educators and school personnel to adapt communication approaches according to student needs Monitor and report on student progress in communication to appropriate staff
