Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available for the 2026-2027 school year, serving an elementary student based in Rockwell, North Carolina. This contract role requires a professional with expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation within a school environment, specifically supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide skilled sign language interpretation services tailored to an elementary student's educational needs. Collaborate with teachers, educational staff, and parents to facilitate effective communication. Maintain accurate documentation and comply with school requirements for student progress and communication. Utilize ECATS system efficiently for student records and reporting. Adhere to deadlines and contribute proactively in team meetings or virtual interviews.
Qualifications and Experience:
Active North Carolina Sign Language Interpreter license (NCDPI SLI License) must be current and verifiable. Minimum EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher. Proficient user of ECATS or equivalent educational data tracking systems. Previous experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings preferred. Strong communication skills and professional demeanor during virtual interviews.
Location:
Rockwell, NC (serving North Stanly Middle School area). This position offers a structured schedule of 37.5 hours per week, from August 4, 2026, through May 28, 2027, aligning with the academic calendar. Interviewing will be conducted via Zoom to accommodate convenience and efficiency.
