Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make an impact supporting students by facilitating communication in a school environment as an experienced Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming academic year. This contract role spans from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027, offering full-time hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00am-2:30pm. Your days will be spent onsite, working with a dedicated student at Troutman Elementary, helping to ensure every educational moment is accessible and meaningful.

Key Qualifications:

Hold an active state Sign Language Interpreter license EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required; candidates with RID certification are also eligible, regardless of EIPA score Prior experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings preferred Strong ASL proficiency and ability to facilitate clear, accurate interpretation in classroom environments Professionalism, reliability, and ability to arrive before student arrival each day Comfortable with an onsite, in-person position (no virtual interpretation opportunities for this role)

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide sign language interpretation services for a designated student throughout the school day Accurately interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during all academic and extracurricular activities Partner with teachers, administrators, and support staff to foster an inclusive, welcoming classroom experience Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district and professional standards Prepare in advance and be present before student arrival to ensure seamless support Be part of a supportive school community where your specialized skills make a daily difference.
