Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding contract assignment as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a vibrant elementary environment from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027. This full-time opportunity offers consistent daytime hours, Monday to Friday, totaling 35 hours per week (7:00am - 2:30pm). You'll play a key role in ensuring effective communication access for students at Troutman Elementary, fostering an inclusive setting for learning and growth.

Desired Qualifications:

Valid licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter. Minimum EIPA score of 3.5, or possession of RID certification (either qualification accepted). Professional experience in K-12 educational settings preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary educational teams. Commitment to ethical standards, confidentiality, and ongoing professional development.

Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver one-to-one interpreting services for students who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing throughout the school day. Arrive onsite before student arrival and remain prepared to support all classroom transitions and daily routines. Interpret classroom instruction, assemblies, and school activities accurately and impartially. Support educators by facilitating clear communication and contributing to an inclusive, accessible learning experience. Collaborate with teachers and specialists to optimize student participation and developmental progress. Maintain documentation and adhere to all school, district, and legal protocols.
