Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly-skilled, motivated, and experienced paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Specifically, this individual will be working alongside a distinguished attorney with over 30 years of experience in the several practice areas. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a seasoned attorney and play a critical role in client support and case management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Requirements:
  • Must be self-motivated and demonstrate initiative to complete duties without extensive supervision;
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task while maintaining high attention to detail;
  • Ability to prioritize job responsibilities to accommodate an ever-changing, fast-paced environment;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Office and ability to learn our firm's legal database software (Clio);
  • Must have a desire to learn and grow, and work collaboratively to accomplish tasks.
Preferred:
  • Minimum of 2 years legal administrative experience (estate planning & administration, personal injury, and/or criminal experience preferred)
  • Paralegal's degree preferred; however, a combination of education, certifications and experience will be considered;
  • A valid Notary Public in the state of North Carolina (or the willingness to obtain such certification).
Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft, proofread, and file legal documents in a timely manner with the Clerk of Court, etc.;
  • Perform thorough medical record reviews;
  • Complete required filings for the North Carolina Industrial Commission;
  • Communicate both effectively and timely with clients;
  • Conduct discovery and communicate with opposing counsel and insurance adjusters;
  • Maintain attorney calendars, such as hearings, mediations, and deadlines.
