Serving as a dedicated 1:1 interpreter for a non-verbal student within a self-contained classroom, your expertise in American Sign Language will be crucial to ensuring accessible communication and an inclusive learning experience throughout the entire school year. Desired Experience & Qualifications:

Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL Para, specifically in educational settings Experience providing 1:1 support for students, especially those who are non-verbal Understanding of how to interpret classroom content and facilitate communication between student, staff, and peers Ability to adapt interpreting style to suit a young learner in a self-contained environment Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

Core Responsibilities:

Deliver 1:1 ASL interpretation for a first-grade student throughout the school day Support the students participation, engagement, and understanding of classroom instruction and activities Facilitate communication between the student, classroom teacher, peers, and other support staff Help implement the students Individualized Education Plan (IEP) accommodations and modifications as needed Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions
