Job Description
2 weekend shift per month. One major summer and one major winter holiday Job Description Provides accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation to patients, their families and the health care team, collaboratively working throughout the Hospital to provide this service. Translates forms and documents and provides phone assistance to Hospital staff as requested. Performs diversified clerical duties supporting department of Social Work activities. Coordinates patient placement with post-acute care facilities and/or services Job Responsibility 1. Provides interpretation as requested throughout the Hospital. Provides translations of significant Hospital consents, forms, instructions and other documents, as requested. 2. Documents all interpretation services on the "Interpreter Assistance Form" form which must be made part of the Patient's Medical Record and completes assignments for the Department Director, in compliance with Hospital and Department standards. 3. Reports daily to management any incidents for problem solving, educational needs or any other improvement opportunities for the Special Needs program. 4. Participates, as requested, in Department and Hospital improvement activities and collaborates with Department leadership to improve work systems and services provided to customers. 5. Performs related duties, as required. 6. Supports Social Workers on assigned units with administrative aspects of transition planning activities. 7. Gathers and processes required documentation to facilitate placement. 8. Performs diversified clerical duties which may include but are not limited to: Typing various correspondence, reports, articles, etc.
- Scheduling appointments, meetings, etc.
- Maintaining files.
- Takes minutes at meetings.
- Miscellaneous duties related to department.
- Receptionist duties.
- Record keeping.
- Preparation of statistical data.
- Keeping inventory and ordering supplies. Job Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Fluent in Spanish and English. Able to interpret/translate anatomy and medical terminology.
- Knowledgeable of medical terminology, ethics of interpretation, cultural issues and special needs populations
