Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role supporting student communication and learning as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school setting near North Bend, OH. This contract position allows you to make a direct impact by bridging communication between students, staff, and families, creating an inclusive educational experience for all.
Key Experience & Qualifications:
Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state equivalent) Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with a clear understanding of interpreting protocols in educational environments Previous experience working in K-12 schools or with children preferred Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with teachers, students, and support staff Professional discretion, confidentiality, and sensitivity to the communication needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students Flexibility and adaptability within a dynamic learning environment
Role Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language for students, teachers, and staff within classrooms and other school-related activities Facilitate effective communication during lessons, assemblies, and meetings Support students' understanding of classroom content, assignments, and school routines Work closely with educators and support teams to ensure accessibility and participation for all students Maintain accurate records of interpreting assignments, student progress, and communication needs Uphold professional interpreting standards and adhere to ethical guidelines
