Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a rewarding contract role serving students in an educational setting near Westerville, Ohio. As a full-time Educational Interpreter, you'll make a direct impact by facilitating communication and supporting access to curriculum for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills. Experience in school-based sign language interpreting, or related settings preferred. Knowledge of educational terminology and classroom environments. Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, students, and families. Professional certification or licensure in sign language interpreting, as required by state guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Provide interpreting services for students throughout the school day in various academic and extracurricular settings. Support clear communication between students, peers, and staff using appropriate interpreting techniques. Interpret classroom lessons, group discussions, assemblies, and meetings with sensitivity to students' language needs. Maintain confidentiality regarding all educational and personal information. Contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment and help foster student independence. Collaborate with teachers and support staff to facilitate accommodations and student success.
