Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact every day by supporting a middle school student as a Sign Language Interpreter in a supportive educational environment near Pawhuska, OK. In this rewarding position, you will collaborate closely with educational teams to provide vital communication access for a 1:1 middle school caseload. The role is focused daily from 12:00 to 3:30pm CST, making this an ideal fit for professionals seeking mid-day hours and looking to enrich the lives of students.
Key Qualifications:
Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter with a minimum 3.5 EIPA. Previous experience interpreting in an educational setting, preferably at the middle-school level. Strong knowledge of Deaf culture and fluency in American Sign Language (ASL). Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and staff. Comfortable working onsite; candidates open to virtual interpreting (VOCO) are also welcome to apply.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for a middle school student within classroom and school-related settings. Ensure accurate communication between the student, teachers, and peers. Support student inclusion, engagement, and participation in daily activities. Document and communicate progress with school staff as necessary.
