Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support communication needs within a school setting in Bethlehem, PA. This role plays a vital part in facilitating effective interaction between hearing and deaf or hard-of-hearing students and staff, ensuring an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Translate spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction and school activities. Facilitate communication among students, teachers, and school personnel. Support academic and social integration of deaf or hard-of-hearing students. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interpreting assignments. Collaborate with educators to adapt materials and strategies for students needs.Desired Qualifications:
Proficient knowledge of American Sign Language and interpreting techniques. Experience working in educational settings preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality. Flexibility to adapt to varied classroom environments and schedules.Location:
