Job Description

Make a meaningful impact by providing dedicated support as an American Sign Language Interpreter in a welcoming elementary school environment. In this onsite contract role, you'll work closely with a 5th grade student within a Life Skills classroom, ensuring equal access to education and fostering meaningful connections. With a consistent 35-hour workweek, you'll have the opportunity to build rapport, make a difference, and further your interpreting skills daily.
Key Qualifications:
Valid qualification as an ASL Interpreter EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required) Proven ability to interpret for students in educational settings Experience supporting learners with special needs or in Life Skills classrooms is valued Strong communication skills and a collaborative team spirit Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Responsibilities:
Provide accurate, real-time interpretation between English and American Sign Language Facilitate communication between a 5th grade student, peers, educators, and staff Adapt interpretation style to fit classroom activities and the needs of the student Support a positive, inclusive, and accessible classroom environment Collaborate with educational staff to optimize the student's learning experience Maintain appropriate documentation as needed by school protocols
