Start as an interpreter, build an exceptional performance record, advance through professional tiers, increase your earning potential, and potentially earn your way into recruiting, management, operations, business development, District Manager, Regional Manager, and other leadership opportunities. At NLS, interpreting can open the door, but your performance, ideas, work ethic, and leadership ability can determine how far you go. You will not be expected to grow alone. NLS is building a connected professional community where interpreters, recruiters, managers, operations personnel, and leadership communicate, collaborate, solve problems, share experience, and help one another develop. Team support is available through appropriate in-person, phone, email, and company communication channels, including shared company discussions where professionals can learn from one another, teach, train, exchange ideas, solve challenges, and grow together.

EXECUTIVE EVALUATION

INDIVIDUAL RATE REVIEW

POTENTIAL NLS LEADERSHIP NLS

advancement is based on performance, not simply time with the company. We evaluate interpretation quality, reliability, punctuality, professionalism, responsiveness, accountability, ethical conduct, client service, initiative, and commitment to NLS standards. TIER 1 |

QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL INTERPRETER

Tier 1 is the starting qualification level. California applicants must have a minimum of two years of professional interpreting experience and begin establishing their NLS performance record through qualifying assignments. Complete 10 Qualifying Assignments → Become Eligible for Tier 2 Advancement Review TIER 2 |

QUALIFIED & EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONAL INTERPRETER

Tier 2 recognizes interpreters who establish a strong NLS performance history and consistently demonstrate professional excellence. Approved Tier 2 interpreters may become eligible for increased applicable compensation, advanced assignments, and additional opportunities. Complete 10 Additional Qualifying Assignments → Become Eligible for Tier 3 Advancement Review TIER 3 |

MAXIMUM STANDARD INTERPRETER LEVEL

Tier 3 is the highest standard interpreter tier within the NLS career pathway and recognizes experienced, high-performing professionals who demonstrate exceptional quality, reliability, professionalism, responsiveness, accountability, hard work, and commitment. Qualified Tier 3 interpreters may become eligible for the highest applicable standard interpreter compensation levels for qualifying assignments. But Tier 3 does not necessarily represent the end of your growth with NLS. For the right professional, it may be the beginning of something much bigger.

HOW FAST CAN YOU REACH TIER 3?

There is no guaranteed timeline. A highly active, exceptional performer with sufficient qualifying assignment opportunities could potentially progress within approximately six months to one year, while another professional's journey could take two or three years or longer. Advancement depends on assignment opportunities, performance, quality, reliability, responsiveness, qualifications, hard work, client requirements, business needs, and NLS approval. The pathway exists. How quickly you advance depends heavily on your performance and the opportunities available to demonstrate it.

AFTER TIER 3

|

THE EXECUTIVE-LEVEL CONVERSATION

An exceptional professional who reaches the maximum applicable Tier 3 level and establishes an outstanding NLS performance history may be invited to a private one-on-one Executive Leadership Evaluation with a member of the NLS Executive Leadership Team. At this level, the conversation goes beyond interpreting. NLS may evaluate your leadership ability, business mindset, initiative, recruiting capability, operational knowledge, ability to build and manage teams, problem-solving skills, business-development potential, professional vision, execution plan, and the measurable value you can create. Based on performance, qualifications, contribution, leadership potential, company needs, and NLS approval, NLS may discuss an individualized exclusive interpreter rate and potential leadership responsibilities with you.

MORE THAN ONE WAY TO GROW & EARN NLS

believes an exceptional professional's long-term earning potential does not necessarily have to depend exclusively on personally completing interpreting assignments. As qualified professionals advance into separately approved leadership roles, potential opportunities may include compensation connected with interpreting, recruiting, leadership overrides, team development, management, operations, business development, client development, and other approved incentive or compensation structures appropriate to their responsibilities. Certain approved NLS leaders may become eligible for ongoing leadership override compensation on qualifying assignments completed by interpreters they personally recruit. Once approved, the leadership override may continue for the duration of the professional relationship, for as long as both the approved leader and the personally recruited interpreter remain active and eligible with NLS and continue meeting applicable program requirements. This creates an opportunity for qualified leaders to build long-term residual earning potential by recruiting, supporting, developing, and helping grow a strong network of professional interpreters. The leadership override is separate from the leader's own interpreting compensation and may continue on qualifying assignments even when the leader is not personally performing those assignments, subject to continued eligibility and applicable NLS program terms. People create value. Performance creates opportunity. Leadership creates long-term earning potential. Build people. Build teams. Build your career.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BUILD SOMETHING BIGGER?

For professionals pursuing the NLS leadership pathway, the primary requirement is commitment and consistent execution. Leaders should be prepared to dedicate a minimum of approximately 3-4 hours per day, 5 days per week to building their responsibilities, developing their teams, recruiting talent, learning NLS systems, communicating with the organization, solving problems, and executing their growth plan. You do not need to start with an empire. You need to start with commitment, consistency, performance, and a plan. As your team, professional network, responsibilities, and contribution grow, your earning opportunities can expand beyond personally completing interpreting assignments into approved leadership overrides, recruiting, management, operations, business development, team development, and other applicable compensation structures. For someone who truly understands the system, consistently performs, builds a substantial organization, develops successful teams, and continues scaling over several years, the numbers can become significant. The long-term vision is to build toward $500,000 in annual earnings and, at exceptional scale, potentially $1 million or more annually.

The numbers tell the story:

the larger the qualified network you successfully build and support, the greater the potential earning opportunity can become. This is a performance-based opportunity, not a guaranteed income level or guaranteed timeline. Results depend on the individual's execution, scale, qualifying activity, continued eligibility, applicable compensation structures, business performance, and NLS requirements. The opportunity is there. The system is there. The team is there. What you build with it depends on you.

BRING US A VISION, NOT JUST A RESUME

Once you understand NLS, its clients, systems, operations, and professional network, we want ambitious people to stop asking only, "When is my next assignment?" and begin asking, "What can I build? What problem can I solve? What team can I develop? What value can I create?" We are looking for professionals who can think, plan, execute, lead, and produce measurable results. If leadership interests you, tell us what you would build, what you would improve, how you could help NLS grow, what kind of team you could develop, and how you would execute your vision.
